CHICAGO-SEPTEMBER 25, 2007 -Jacket Micro Devices, Inc. (JMD), a worldwide supplier of integrated RF modules for high performance wireless products, will showcase the company’s M30001 Front End Module (FEM) for WiMAX applications. The product is based on the company’s patented Multi-Layer Organic (MLO) technology and can be seen in booth no. 741 at WiMAX World 2007 in Chicago.
The M30001 FEM is a highly integrated and performance optimized WiMAX front end containing all active and passive components required to interface WiMAX transceivers directly to an antenna. The single 7.0 x 7.5 x 1.4 mm QFN package is ideal for mobile phone, laptop and consumer electronics applications. The small size of the M30001 allows WiMAX interfaces to be integrated along with other wireless and computing functions into small form factor products such as PCI Express, USB and handsets.
“JMD’s M30001 FEM module helps our customers reduce the size and simplify the design of their wireless products by replacing many of the discrete active and passive components between the transceiver and the antenna,” said Jim Stratigos, CEO of JMD. “With our patented MLO technology and our extensive component libraries, we also provide wireless device manufacturers the design flexibility they need to remain competitive and differentiate their products in this rapidly growing market.”
The M30001 is a fully matched, LGA packaged module for 802.16e device applications that integrates filtering, input and output matching, power amplifier, power detector, baluns, switches and filters. The M30001 meets stringent spectral requirements of the 802.16e standard, incorporates a proven PA design, and contains circuitry that optimizes efficiency and linearity. Additional features include:
- 28 dB small signal gain
- 24 dBm Pout @ 4% EVM for 16 QAM
- 25 dB switched Tx gain step
MLO technology allows new methods of fabricating three-dimensional (3-D) all-organic interconnect structures, which allows for smaller, denser designs with greater functionality. JMD holds multiple patents related to MLO technology and continues to explore new ways of enabling smaller wireless components for the next generation of mobile devices.
In related news, JMD announced last week that it has selected Singapore-based MicroCircuit Technology (S) Pte. Ltd. (MCT) for large-scale fabrication of substrates and other products using MLO technology. The agreement will enable manufacturing flexibility, quick implementation and ultimately, fast commercialization of products.
About Jacket Micro Devices (JMD)
Jacket Micro Devices (JMD) is a worldwide supplier of integrated RF modules for high performance wireless products. JMD’s patented Multi-Layer Organic (MLO) technology defines a revolutionary, system-on-package (SOP) approach to RF modules for wireless products and is ideal for wireless systems engineers who need to design compact wireless products. Unlike modules made with ceramic and other technologies, JMD’s products can be rapidly customized and have higher levels of integration, resulting in fewer external components and faster time to market. With JMD modules, manufacturers can push the boundaries of size and performance as they develop - and deliver - new, innovative wireless products.
